High Rigidity and Precision

Specifically designed for face milling cutters up to 125mm in diameter, FMB tool holders have an integrated screw and drive key design. They easily achieve mirror-finish surface quality because their Total Indicator Runout (TIR) is controlled within 0.005mm, a tolerance ten times stricter than that of traditional side-lock holders.

 

Materials and Manufacturing

These holders, which are mostly made of 42CrMo or 40Cr alloy steel, have core hardnesses between HRC 44 and 62. Critical load-bearing surfaces are subjected to specific treatments including precision grinding, blackening, and carburization (down to a depth of 1/32 inch). With a guide diameter tolerance of only ±0.002mm to provide zero-point clamping for modular milling cutters, some premium versions in the BT series achieve AT3 taper precision.

 

 

Dynamic Balancing Classification

Separated into two levels. High-speed machining applications (like HSK or Bright-tools models) have a standard grade of G2.5 (20,000–30,000 RPM), while standard machining applications (like BT40 models) have a standard balance grade of G6.3 (up to 10,000 RPM). Internal-coolant models can operate at full load up to 28,000 RPM. Because of its incredibly low residual imbalance (<2 g·mm), the high-frequency vibrations typical of 6-tooth face milling cutters are completely eliminated.

Application Scenarios

 

Aerospace & Mold Making

Perfect for heavy-duty cutting of 316L stainless steel weld seams and semi-finishing titanium alloys (such Ti-6Al-4V). Surface roughness continuously maintains an ISO N9 grade, and positional deviation is regulated within 5 microns even at cutting depths of 0.8–1.5 mm.

Heavy Equipment Manufacturing

Large-diameter face milling cutters with diameters between 100 and 160 mm are the typical option. For example, a BT50-FMB40 holder, designed specifically for milling the frames of big cast steel components, can consistently bear a torque of 260 N·m when used to clamp a 160 mm face mill.

Automotive Molds & Deep-Cavity Machining

Sometimes used to clear deep voids in big automobile die-casting molds using extended FMB holders with overhangs of up to 300 mm. Even while machining high-temperature alloys, its dual-keyway design (with a hardness of HRC 60) guarantees an incredibly strong interlock, preventing any slippage at all (reaching a metal removal rate of up to 150 cc/min). Tool changeover only takes 8 seconds when combined with an HSK interface, which makes it ideal for automated manufacturing lines.
